The causative agent of measles i.e. measles virus is a single - stranded RNA virus belonging to the genus Morbillivirus of the family Paramyxoviriadae. Usually the onset of measles takes place 10 to 12 days after exposure to measles virus and symptoms generally last for seven to ten days.
