Erw Steel Pipe

The Difference Between Welded Pipe And Seamless Steel Pipe

Welded steel pipe: A steel pipe produced by welding a steel plate or a strip of steel into a cylindrical shape. According to the welding method, it can be divided into arc welded pipe, high frequency or low frequency electric resistance welded pipe, gas welded pipe, furnace welded pipe, etc.; according to the weld form, it can be divided into straight welded pipe and spiral welded pipe.

Seamless steel pipe: Seamless steel pipe is a round, square and rectangular steel with a hollow section and no joints around it. The seamless steel pipe is formed by perforating a steel ingot or a solid tube blank, and then hot rolled, cold rolled or cold drawn. The seamless steel pipe has a hollow section and is used as a pipe for conveying fluid. Compared with a solid steel such as round steel, the steel pipe has a lighter weight when it has the same bending and torsional strength, and is an economical section steel which is widely used for manufacturing structures. Parts and mechanical parts, such a

Notice of oxyfuel and plasma cutting for making steel pipe

Oxyfuel and plasma cutting play an important role during the production process of making welded steel pipe like ERW steel pipe. And forgetting to grind the joint after oxyfuel or plasma cutting would be an common mistake for a new welder.

Today, we can make it alone to make an essay to tell all of us who need to choose steel pipes or producing tubes. Adding a layer of oxide to the cut edge during the oxyfuel and plasma cutting processes would be the necessary step for steel pipe. And here are the notices:

First of all, the oxide layer has to be removed prior to welding due to the higher melting point of oxide than base metal.

What’s more, the oxides can also remain in the weld and cause porosity, inclusions, lack of fusion and other defects.

In addition, welders have to keep in mind to grind the joint down to the parent material prior to welding, as well as grind the inside and outside diameters of the pipe to remove these oxides and other potential contaminants.
